Lorelei Harloe is an independent communication
professional/small firm providing award-winning
public relations and marketing communication
services from strategy through execution.
Specializing in media relations/publicity,
she offers public relations, marketing communication
and strategic partnership development.
Her background
and client industries include national trade
associations, national and regional health
and medical associations and universities,
private medical products companies, building
products and services, national trade media,
energy services and electric technologies,
marketing service firms, technology, travel/hospitality
and the federal government.
Prior, Harloe
served as communications services representative
with Edison Electric Institute, the trade
association representing the largest U.S.
electric utility companies. She promoted
energy-efficient, electric technologies
and utility programs to the residential,
commercial and industrial audiences through
national publicity efforts and exhibits
at industry trade shows. She also developed
award-winning, custom exhibits of up to
2,400 sq. ft. including live presentations.
For national conventions including the National
Association of Home Builders Show, the National
Restaurant Association Show, the Food Marketing
Institute Convention and others. Her activities
included regular work with industry trade
allies, including major manufacturers of
electrical products and equipment.
Earlier,
she served as the sales and marketing administrator
to the U.S. headquarters of an international
hotel amenity firm based in Zurich. Her
responsibilities included marketing/sales
administration; coordinating production
and shipping activities with manufacturers
in Canada and Italy for U.S. hotels; coordinating
trade show activity; and coordinating advertising
and public relations activities.
Professional
groups include serving as Co-Vice President,
Professional Development for the International
Association of Business Communicators (IABC)
Washington chapter’s 2004-2005 board of
directors, whose program won a 2005 award
of merit from the national organization.
She also served as Vice President, Special
Programs for IABC/Washington’s 2002-2003
board of directors, managing the annual
Silver Inkwell Awards and served on the
2008 Board. Professional groups also include
serving on the Washington Network Group
(WNG) Communication Steering Committee,
the Communication and Marketing Committee
of the National Press Club and Washington
Women in Public Relations (WWPR).
Pro bono
and volunteer activities include wheelchair
tennis/sports organizations for people with
disabilities and teaching English as a second
language (ESL).
Harloe earned
a bachelor's degree in journalism from the
University of Maryland and completed an
editing and publications program at Georgetown
University.
